The big back pack plan + Spicy sambar

This year has been phenomenal. Brilliant, in hind sight. Well orchestrated with a small ignorable number of knee jerks. But it has been wonderful, apart from that. The last three months, especially - have changed my life around.

It has been the same with my friend. I checked in with the friend (whom we shall call K, arbitrarily). K has had quite a year too.

To celebrate our year and life this year, K and I decided to do something we've been waiting to try all this while - go backpacking WITHOUT a plan.

I come home this december, to some spicy sambar, family and good ol' friends. K and I shall then embark on a week long mission * without any constraints on time / ppl / money / places. We're randomly going to get into a random train, go up to where we feel like - with a book in hand. And a map and a compass. Indian railways, for the win!

Ofcourse, the family grumbles about the idea. But we deserve our lil trip! Come on! The idea of throwing all the things away and going away for a while on a lil adventure seems like something I can take some grumbling for!

Apart from the backpacking, the only other plan I have is to get some spicy sambar. And actually, some Pongal. Its going to be the tamil month of Margazhi ("dhanur maasam"). Margazhi brings memories. My grand father (okay, I come from a south Indian family) would wake up real early and leave to the temple. BUT here's the deal: when we'd be all ready to leave to school, thatha would bring us really hot pongal from the temple as prasadam! So this december, I plan to go to one of those pongal-temples. That too in style, mind you : madi-saree and the works ;) (I know, it leaves me surprised too!)

Cheers! Lets drink to that!
